The US and UK carried out strikes on Yemen in the early hours of Friday, the Houthis authorities have said.

The action comes after Washington and London vowed to retaliate against Houthis attacks on shipping in the vital Red Sea region. 

The Houthis have pledged support to Gaza during the ongoing fighting between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
